Are you considering an International education for your child? Did you know that BJAB is a British, English speaking, all through school, in the heart of Brussels offering Cambridge and International Baccalaureate Diploma qualifications?

We would very much like to invite you to attend our BJAB Open Day to enable you to discover first-hand what makes our school so unique.

At BJAB, we offer an education that is quintessentially English with an International twist. We combine the academic rigour and traditions of the English education system with the richness and diversity of an international community.

As a family-owned school, we take great pride in creating a warm, personal and welcoming environment where relationships matter.

We are also proud to be an intentionally small school. Our size is one of our greatest strengths, allowing us to truly know every child as an individual. Students benefit from strong relationships with their teachers, personalised support and a close-knit community where every pupil is valued and encouraged to thrive.

See BJAB in Action

During our Open Day you will have the opportunity to listen to a brief address by our Headteacher, Mr Francis Retter. You will be then entertained by some of our pupils and given the opportunity to tour the school and visit open classrooms with our pupils.

Discover an International Education

At BJAB we prepare pupils for internationally recognised qualifications, including Cambridge IGCSEs and the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP). These highly respected qualifications are recognised by leading universities around the world and equip students with the knowledge, skills and global outlook needed for future success.

Our outstanding examination results are indicative of the academic rigour that permeates our curriculum. Our highly qualified and experienced staff set high expectations for our students and provide the support, challenge and encouragement they need to achieve their very best.

Values at the Heart of Everything We Do

At BJAB, our Values are at the heart of everything we do. They guide the way we learn, the way we treat one another and the way we contribute to the wider world.

We are deeply committed to promoting international understanding and global citizenship. For this reason, BJAB is an active member of Round Square, a worldwide network of schools that share a commitment to character education, leadership, service, environmental stewardship, democracy, adventure and internationalism.

Recently, some of our students had the opportunity to attend the International Round Square Conference in Dubai, where they connected with fellow students from across the globe. Through workshops, discussions and internationally minded projects, they explored important global issues, shared their ideas and experiences and developed a deeper understanding of different perspectives and cultures.

Whether through leadership opportunities, service projects, participation in the Duke of Edinburgh's Award, Round Square activities, international competitions, guest speaker programmes, or everyday interactions within our school community, our Values help shape students into thoughtful, responsible, and compassionate individuals who are ready to embrace the opportunities and challenges of the future.

We are also proud to be inspected by the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI). Our most recent inspection was extremely pleasing and reflects the dedication, professionalism and commitment demonstrated by both our staff and pupils. The aforementioned inspection findings recognised the strength of our provision and reinforce our commitment to delivering an outstanding educational experience for every student.

Explore Opportunities Beyond the Classroom

At BJAB, learning extends far beyond the classroom walls.

Our pupils regularly take part in a wide range of national and international events, competitions and challenges, allowing them to showcase their talents, develop new skills and build connections with students from around the world.

At BJAB, we also enrich our curriculum through a programme of guest speakers and expert talks. Throughout the year, pupils have the opportunity to hear from professionals, academics, industry leaders and subject specialists on a wide range of topical issues and emerging trends. Recent themes have included the growth and impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI), sustainability, international affairs, careers of the future and technological innovation. These sessions encourage students to think critically, engage with contemporary issues, and develop a deeper understanding of the rapidly changing world around them.

Our secondary pupils also have the opportunity to participate in the Duke of Edinburgh's Award scheme. This internationally respected programme encourages young people to develop resilience, independence, leadership skills and a spirit of adventure through service, skills development, physical activity and expeditions.

Families are often surprised by the breadth of experiences on offer and the many ways we help children develop confidence, independence, resilience, leadership skills and a lifelong love of learning, encapsulated in the BJAB tag-line of 'Education for Life'.

A Location That Works for Families

BJAB's city centre location makes us an exceptionally convenient choice for families across Brussels and beyond. Situated close to all major modes of public transport, our school is easily accessible whether students travel by métro, tram, bus, train or bicycle.

Our central location also enhances the learning experience. With many of Brussels' museums, cultural institutions, international organisations and educational venues within easy reach, visiting events, exhibitions and places of interest is a breeze. This allows our students to make the most of the rich learning opportunities that the city has to offer, bringing classroom learning to life through real-world experiences.

Despite our central location, we are fortunate to be close to some of Brussels' most beautiful parks and outdoor spaces. These green surroundings provide valuable opportunities for outdoor learning, recreation, and wellbeing, allowing students to benefit from both the energy of a vibrant international city and the tranquility of nature.

What Parents Gain from Attending an Open Day

One of the things prospective families notice most when they visit BJAB is our strong sense of community. As an intentionally small school, we are able to develop meaningful relationships with both students and families. Parents often leave our Open Days feeling reassured by our personalised approach, knowing that their child will be seen, known and supported throughout their educational journey.

Parents also value being able to see the journey their child could take, from their first days at school through to graduating with internationally recognised qualifications that open doors to universities across the globe.

Independent Reviews from Our Parent Community

The school has received numerous positive reviews on ‘International Schools Database’, with parents highlighting the quality of teaching, the supportive atmosphere, and the strong sense of community that characterises BJAB. One parent recently wrote:

"There are many glowing reviews of this school, and that's no coincidence. It's the natural result of the standards of excellence the school sets for itself. Congratulations to the headteacher and the entire team for their outstanding work!"

Come and experience BJAB for yourself. We very much look forward to welcoming you.
