Y8 Student Takes the Spotlight at Musicorum Festival

Our Year 8 Student Takes the Spotlight at Musicorum Festival
Every so often, a student's summer reminds an entire school community of exactly why a personalised, well-rounded education matters. This summer, one of our Year 8 students took to the stage at the Musicorum Festival, held at the Royal Museums of Fine Arts in Brussels, performing works by Grieg, Borodin and Scriabin as the youngest student at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels.
The recital drew a very special guest: Prince Amaury de Merode attended in person to hear her play. Her talent did not go unnoticed elsewhere either — ahead of her performance, she was interviewed and featured by RTBF radio as part of its summer festival coverage of Musicorum. You can listen to her RTBF interview here.
When Music and Language Grow Together
Her journey is a lovely reminder of how the skills students build at BJAB carry far beyond the classroom. After the RTBF interview, her mother noticed just how much her French had developed alongside her music, and it is not a coincidence.
At BJAB, music lessons are taught weekly by a dedicated musician with a genuine love for the art, giving every student the individual attention needed to build real confidence and skill. French, meanwhile, is taught four or five times a week (depending on year group) by our largest department, staffed with highly qualified and engaging language teachers. It is exactly this kind of personalised educational approach and consistent, high-quality teaching across both the arts and languages, that allows students to flourish.
Why Families Choose BJAB
Stories like this one reflect what BJAB offers every student: strong academics, small classes and space for individual talents, musical, linguistic or academic, to be noticed and nurtured. Our British curriculum runs through to Cambridge IGCSE, before every student progresses onto the IB Diploma Programme, chosen for the breadth and international recognition it offers.
