Arrival and Collection of Children

In the morning, parents may use parking spaces on Boulevard St Michel in front of the school to pull in and drop off children. It is not necessary to vacate cars, as there is a teacher on duty to collect the children and guide them into school.

Children wait with their class teacher at the main school entrance to be collected at the end of the day. You will understand that we cannot release a child to an unauthorised person, therefore parents should inform us in writing of any changes to their normal collection arrangements.

Attendance: All pupils are required to be registered in line with the school’s admission policy. The following regulatory requirements apply to all children registered in full-time primary education which at the BJAB is from Reception Class upwards:

  • pupils are to be in school in line with the scholastic calendar; if they are absent from the school due to illness for more than 3 days parents are required to send in a medical certificate;
  • a letter identifying the reason for absence / illness is required if pupils are out of school for one day or part of a day (up to 3 days);
  • the school should be informed as soon as possible by telephone if a child is absent and this is to be followed by a medical certificate or a letter;
  • details of all absences are noted in the school register.

Punctuality: Pupils are required to be in school punctually, in line with the school’s timetable. Late arrival is recorded formally in the school register and formal reports reflect the attendance and punctuality of pupils.

In Case of Accident

The BJAB undertakes regular risk assessments to ensure that children are as safe as possible both in school and during off-site visits. If your child has a serious accident at school, you will be notified immediately. All minor injuries will be treated at school if possible. A number of teaching staff throughout the school have first aid certification. When a child needs medical care, parents will be asked to accompany the child to the hospital or doctor if possible. If parents are unable to attend, the class teacher or head teacher will accompany the child.

Garderie

To assist working parents, garderie and a homework facility are provided on a daily basis from 3.30 - 5.30pm, and on Wednesday afternoons from 12.30 - 5.30pm. We aim to make this more than just a child-minding facility. Pupils may do their homework under the guidance of a teacher, or take part in a locally designed programme.

Home-School Transport

The school supports a bus service with 'INFINITY SPRL' that provides transport between home and school. Children are picked up from a point close to home at a pre-arranged time and returned at the end of the school day. This service is by prior arrangement only and involves an extra fee.
